ORIGINAL KONOS |
As thick as a metropolitan phone book, with tons of activities to choose from, each of the three original KONOS Character Curriculum books offer:
**NOTE KONOS Curriculum volumes cover all required elementary school topics for grades K- 8 (excluding math, phonics, spelling, and upper grade language arts) |
KONOS Kids’ Timelines to go with Volumes
Timelines are powerful visual tools that: Provide a framework for history, let kids "build" history as they learn one character at a time, use characters for hands-on learning and games, teach blocks of history: Patriarch period (Bible timeline); and Explorers period (Vol. II timeline), use colorful, memorable symbols, like Luther nailing his 95 theses to door, Bathsheba in a bathtub, Columbus with telescope, flag and map, and Leonardo holding Mona Lisa and paint brush. The timelines combine all of history (e.g. Squanto of American History living concurrently with Shakespeare of English drama and Galileo of science.) Each character is approximately 2-3/4" tall. (See list of every character)
Please order Timeline Wallchart or Century Lines with first timeline character set ordered. |

What if I want to buy everything? Buy the Complete Works Collection! The Complete Works Collection is a combination offering from KONOS that would allow a family to purchase 8 years of curriculum and all of the teacher training tools at same time. The products included in the Complete Works Collection are:
Besides the obvious financial savings, many families purchase The Complete Works Collection, so they can skip around and choose the character trait that is most needed in their respective families at the time. Since the character traits are not sequential, family needs is an excellent way of deciding what sequence the character traits need to be taught. The Index is also an incredible help to moms as they try to find specific topics or subject areas in KONOS. As an example, if an Egyptian exhibit is coming to town next month, mom might want to stop what she is teaching and do a unit on Egyptians. She can quickly look up "Egyptians" in the Index and discover that KONOS covers the Egyptians in Volume II under "Inquisitiveness" pg. 84-87 and in Volume III under "Resourcefulness and Initiative" pg. 61-62. Please understand that you are purchasing 8 years worth of curriculum at one time. After the 21 day examination period passes, the materials are yours to keep! Do I have to do every activity listed each day? Definitely not!! The word curriculum means a course of study. Your curriculum is a tool that should help you educate your children. It is not an iron-fisted task-master forcing you to run your homeschool according to someone else’s schedule. Feel free to change, alter, skip, delete, add to, or personalize KONOS to fit the needs of your family each day. We have included more activities than most could ever do because choices provide flexibility. If you decide to have your children make a table-top castle using one cardboard box instead of a garage-sized castle out of numerous refrigerator boxes, then your children have time to make banners out of felt and write a ballad, or take the afternoon off, while the refrigerator castle making kids will not have time for those activities. Remember, no teenager ever failed the SAT test, because he did not make the refrigerator box castle! Free yourself to do what works for your family one day at a time; one season at a time. What you do, how often you do it, and the way you do it should be decided by wife and husband according to what is best for their family. |
